Christians should bear in mind that Muslim faithfuls are much aware of the fact that the weekends we observe on Saturdays and Sundays was imposed upon us all by the then Christian colonial masters to go down well with them and that satisfies only the religious need of the Christian faithfuls in Nigeria and Yet, Muslims complains not about that. It is in this spirit that we call for Christian citizens of Nigerian to adopt the spirit of “Live and let live”.
We however call on the National Assembly to as a matter of urgency take quick action on the recommendations to strengthen Sharia law and do the needful.
The Nigerian constitution is a child of British colonial Christianization of Nigeria, which totally ignore the fact that Nigeria is a multi-Religious state.
The system we currently run in this nation contradict the culture of Muslims and favour that of Christians it is not only alien to our culture but as well marginalized the population of Muslim Ummah. Nigerian democracy is undoubtedly deceptive, looking at the fact that Muslims who form the largest part of the population are not integrated into the system. It is only in Nigeria that Participatory democracy is not best practice.
Nigeria’s democracy out aside Muslims. We observe weekends on Saturdays and Sundays but we go to work on Fridays. Our girls are not allowed to go to school in many parts of the country with Hijab on their head. In the southern part of the nation, there is no any Shari’a court of appeal in that sub-region which force muslims faithfuls to follow Christian and common law in all civil matter. When it come to issues that has to do with marriages, marriages observed in churches are recognized while those observed in mosques are not. What kind of Democracy are we practicing? So Fraudulent indeed!
